This song starts with one of the first riffs I ever wrote and then brings in an accompanying melody I penned a few years later while still in high school (1999-2003). After a pre-chorus, the song goes into a chorus that includes two interwoven melodies (also written during high school). Finally, instead of a bridge, there’s an outro that is probably the most symphonic thing I’ve ever written—and that I recorded for the first and only time in 2003. While any future recordings (especially on sparse acoustic instrumentation) won’t be nearly as “epic,” there will still be three simultaneous melodies that will hopefully create a nice bit of polyphony.
Of course, the downside of all the polyphony is it makes a solo acoustic version very, very difficult (at least for me).
