About
The A Part riff was written in high school (1999-2003). I’d forgotten that I originally began the riff with a dissonant part to make the main riff “pop,” which is why I’m grateful the Copyright Office hooked me up with my long-lost high school albums. The accompanying melody to the A riff came a few years later, perhaps in college (2003-2007). However, the B Part is a recent ditty (2023-present) that feels like I’m likely ripping off an old nursey rhyme (why is why I made the arrangement a bit more complex). The C Part is from high school as well but is a recent addition to the song.
Ultimately, this song has come a long way from its original form that included a Dave Matthews Band-inspired chorus.
